With the great success of the first Forum and the warm welcome from the participants from both home and abroad, The Second Chinese-Foreign University Presidents Forum will be held from August 4th to August 10th, 2004, in Beijing. To coordinate the Forum and meet the need of university leaders to do further research on higher education, NAEA has compiled a book Trend of Worldwide Higher Education: Reform and Development II. 
    The preliminary plan of the book covers the following themes: environmental development and university reform; university positioning and planning; scientific innovation and technology transfer; teaching reform and faculty professional development; international cooperation and exchange of higher education. 
    The book is structured in five parts. The first part takes a close look at the development of social environmental development and the trends of university reform; The second part explores the positioning, strategic planning and structure change of university; The third part focuses on scientific innovation and technology transfer; The fourth part concerns teaching reform and faculty professional development; the last part is about international cooperation and exchange of higher education.
    This book will be available to the participants of the Forum.
