On March 23 Dr. Brian J R Stevenson, Associate Vice-President (International) of University of Alberta, Canada paid a visit at NAEA. Mr. Yafei Xue, Vice-President (International) of NAEA had a meeting with Dr. Stevenson. 

    During their talk they traced back to the CCULP Linkage Project funded by CIDA and implemented by the two institutions from 1990 to 1994, and stressed the significance of the Project. Both sides think the two institutions had a good connection and are willing to renew the relationship in future.

    Dr. Stevenson introduced that the Chancellor of U of A, Dr. Fraser, is very successful during his office in advancing the U of A into national and international leading university. Mr. Xue extended his invitation to Dr. Fraser to visit NAEA and deliver a speech to many Chinese university leaders attending training seminars at NAEA at appropriate time in future.

    Some possible areas of collaboration in future were discussed in their meeting. They included exchange of scholars, jointly organizing training seminar for Chinese university leaders and education officials at provincial and city levels, jointly developing educational project for poor and minority region in west China, exchange of relevant academic periodicals, and other areas of common interest.
