2002 NAEA International Day
Mr. Tian Xiaogang Secretary General of the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, Mr. Eduardo Velez Human Development Coordinator and Ms. Xiao Liping Education Specialist from the World Bank Office, Beijing (WBOB), Ms. Katharine Campbell Counsellor and Ms. Lei Xiaofeng Manager of Educational Promotion and Liaison from Embassy of Australia, Mr. Alain Gendron First Secretary and Ms. Zhang Xiaojie Commercial Officer from Canadian Embassy, Mr. Francisco Noel Fernandez Second Secretary and Consul from Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines, Mr. Lloyd W. Neighbors Minister Counsellor for Public Affairs from American Embassy attend the International Day activities upon invitation. During their stay with NAEA the guests have a campus tour, watch the video program about NAEA, are given a presentation on NAEA¡¯s international exchange and cooperation, see a video documentary about 2002 Chinese-Foreign University Presidents Forum sponsored by China¡¯s Ministry of Education and designed, prepared and organized by NAEA and other Chinese educational institutions, visit NAEA Exhibition Room, meet with NAEA leaders and faculty, attend lunch banquet, and present at an academic saloon titled Exploring Chinese-Foreign University Exchange and Cooperation, which is organized by some of NAEA¡¯s current training program participants who are leaders and prospective leaders of China¡¯s institutions of higher learning. These activities have helped the guests to know NAEA, her mission, tasks and position in China¡¯s educational system, especially her history and future of international exchange and cooperation. Professor Yu Jiaqing Executive Vice President of NAEA addresses the guests at the friendly meeting with them . He states that since 1990¡¯s NAEA has paid great attention to international cooperation and exchanges, learning from international counterparts their advanced ideas and practices in preparing university leaders, which has contributed to enhance NAEA¡¯s quality of training. NAEA will continue to strengthen and develop linkages with international counterparts in order to further learn and study the most recent educational developments including ideas, policies and practices of respective countries through various channels and resources. He also explains the construction of ¡°two windows¡± as one of the goals of NAEA. Each year nearly 4000 university leaders and prospective leaders, educational administrators from local educational authorities at different levels attend NAEA¡¯s various training programs. They bring with them large amount of information about the nation¡¯s educational development. So NAEA can be a ¡°window¡± through which one learns Chinese education. At the same time, NAEA tries to be another ¡°window¡± showing international education development and trends. This can only done by developing exchange and cooperation with international counterparts. He expresses his wish that after the Day¡¯s activities and since they start to know each other, NAEA and their distinguished guests will make further connections, and NAEA may get support from them in developing international exchange and cooperation projects in future. Mr. Tian Xiaogang congratulates the opening of the 2002 NAEA International Day and expresses his willingness in establishing linkage and cooperation with NAEA. He appeals the other guests to attach importance to cooperation and exchanges with NAEA. All the guests respond to their host. They think that NAEA is a very unique institution, shouldering crucial task of fostering educational administrators. They are willing to make their efforts to help establishing partnerships of mutual interest between NAEA and educational institutions in their own countries. In the afternoon the guests present at the Saloon. Nearly 20 Chinese university senior administrators attend the Saloon. Professor Yan Guanmei, vice president of Zhongshan University, professor Wu Song, assistant to the President of Shang Hai Jiaotong University and other participants make presentations and have interesting talks with their international guests. 2002 NAEA International Day has passed. But it is believed that ever since between NAEA and their guests a bridge of friendship and a channel for continued communication and cooperation are established. | ||||
