Training Program Organized by NAEA for Educational Administrators of
Philippine Chinese Schools
Started in Manila

Entrusted by the Philippine Chinese Education Research Center, the National Academy of Education Administration (NAEA) started the training program for educational administrators in Philippine Chinese Schools in Manila on April 23, 2002. It is the first training program NAEA conducted for overseas educational administrators, which has earned great concerns both from the Chinese and Philippine government. Officials from the Chinese Embassy and representatives of Philippine educational authorities as well as concerned Sino- Philippine organizations presented at the opening ceremony and delivered their greetings.

The training program is aimed at improving the capacity of educational administrators in Philippine Chinese schools by providing them access to understand Chinese educational philosophy, Chinese culture and grasp the basic methods and skills of school management.

The content of the training program composes of four topics: The Educational Philosophy and Its Influence of Renowned Chinese Educators; Modern Educational Ideas: How a Principal Runs a School; Basic Knowledge and Practice of Management of Teaching; The Art of Leadership: How a Principal Manages a School Well. The training will proceed through topical lecturing and group discussions.

47 principals and directors respectively from 25 schools of 6 provinces of Philippine participated in the training seminar. The average age of the trainees is 49.5, among whom the oldest is 84, the youngest is 30. The teaching group from NAEA includes Dr. Yu Jianfu, associate professor of educational philosophy, Mr. Li Dong, lecturer of educational technology and Mr. Li Yulong, senior teacher and principal of Beijing Hongmiao Primary School.
